We are finishing up our unit on nonfiction text. Students have been working to identify and use different text features that are commonly seen in nonfiction text.
Vocabulary: table of contents, glossary, bold print, heading, chart, diagram, nonfiction
In math we are in our measurement unit. Students have been exploring length, weight, and capacity using nonstandard units to measure. We'll continue our unit next week with a review of these three concepts as well as a review of calendar terms, time to the half hour and estimation.
How well does your child persuade you to see their side of things? That's what our new writing unit if all about. Students are working on opinion writing where they not only need to state their opinions but they need to be able to give reasons why they feel/believe the way that they do.
Our famous American unit focuses on George Washington, George Washington Carver, Abraham Lincoln, Benjamin Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. We look at how these Americans helped to influence our country.
