Welcome to 3rd grade!!! My name is Miss Brenda Pick and I am excited to be your child's teacher for the 2016-2017 school year! I know that we will have an amazing year together!
Prior to joining the CYES staff this year I taught at the Archdiocese of Omaha for 5 years, 3 years at Omaha Public Schools, and 1 year at Kansas City Public Schools. This is my 10th year of teaching and I have taught 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. Children, teaching and reading are some of my true passions and I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with such a talented group of educators at CYES! It is going to be an AWESOME year as we work together moving full STEAM ahead with the implementation and integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
I am passionate about continually growing as a professional educator to provide your student with a quality education. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and my master's degree in Reading from the University of Nebraska-Kearney. I truly love being a teacher. I have attended many conferences and professional developments to be a well-rounded teacher. I love learning.
On a more personal note I wanted to share a little about myself, I am originally from Nebraska and I grew up on a farm with cows and chickens. I have also lived in Kansas City. I just moved to Manassas, VA on August 1 and I love it. I have a cat named Trixie. I enjoy reading, cooking, Zumba and being outside! I love all things pink. I recently have chosen a vegan lifestyle and it gives me plenty of energy.
YOU are an integral component of your child's success in school. I believe strongly in establishing and maintaining a partnership between home and school in order to help your child achieve their personal best! I will keep you informed on a regular basis and provide resources for academic support at home. We will make a great team! Please remember to visit our School Webpage page regularly at www.chrisyunges.schools.pwcs.edu. It will be loaded with important information, upcoming events, curriculum resources, helpful websites and much more! I will be sending out reminders and other class notes via email so please make sure I have your up to date email address! We will also be using Class Dojo to monitor classroom behavior and you can find your login information for that as well in the handouts provided. This will be another fabulous tool for communication and you can expect to get updates via this avenue as well! Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns and celebrations! I can be reached at (571) 598-3496 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I anticipate a rewarding year for all of us!
