Welcome to 3rd grade!!! My name is Mrs. Nikki Jones and I am so excited to be your child's teacher for the 2016-2017 school year! I know that we will have an amazing year together!
Prior to joining the CYES staff last year I taught at Porter Traditional School in PWCS for eight years, both as a 1st grade teacher and as the Instructional Technology Coach (ITC). After spending three years as the ITC I was ecstatic to return to the classroom last year. Children, teaching and technology are some of my true passions and I couldn't be more thrilled to be working with such a talented group of educators at CYES! It is going to be an AWESOME year as we work together moving full STEAM ahead with the implementation and integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics.
I am passionate about continually growing as a professional educator to provide your student with a quality education. I have a bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education from SUNY Fredonia of New York and my master's degree in Special Education from George Mason University of Virginia. I have served in many leadership positions and truly love being a teacher. I have attended several conferences including FETC, TCEA and VSTE. I have also presented locally, at the state level and nationally on technology integration in the classroom and I just can't get enough of teaching and learning!
On a more personal note I wanted to share a little about myself, I am originally from Western NY and moved to Virginia nine years ago to pursue my teaching career. My husband and I have been married for 4 years. We have a little boy named Greyson and he is our whole world! We also have two puppies; Lilly and Gremmy. In addition to being a wife and mommy I enjoy LuLaRoe, relaxing at the beach, reading, photography, cooking, running and being outside! I love all things pink and chevron, anything Gluten Free or decaf, Skittles, pens/markers, Kid President and sparkles!
YOU are an integral component of your child's success in school. I believe strongly in establishing and maintaining a partnership between home and school in order to help your child achieve their personal best! I will keep you informed on a regular basis and provide resources for academic support at home. We will make a great team! I will be sending out reminders and other class notes via email so please make sure I have your up to date email address! We will also be using Class Dojo to monitor classroom behavior and you can find your login information for that as well in the handouts provided. This will be another fabulous tool for communication and you can expect to get updates via this avenue as well! Please do not hesitate to contact me with questions, concerns and celebrations! I can be reached at (571) 598 - 3479 or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org. I anticipate a rewarding year for all of us!
